Rings
All of the rings that I make, are by hand, a few at a time. My designs are cool, but it is the metal that makes them really special. Fine silver does not tarnish like sterling. Fine silver(99.9% silver) used in my creations, wears like iron, compared to sterling. I make my silver 20 to 40% harder then copper alloyed with silver aka sterling. I use every stone I can find or can afford. Buying stones and mineral specimens is what got me in this whole mess to start with. Some of the other things you might find in my jewelry. Fossil Walrus Ivory. This is material that came out of the ground . It was dug by the Siberian Upik Eskimo, by hand in the worst conditions you can imagine. I bought it myself and worked it into everything from buttons to buffalo heads. The material runs from 250 to 20,000 years in age Most of the material comes from broken artifacts that were or are not in good enough condition to sell as an artifact. So I carve it into something I like of something I can use. Really great material. It is very rare and terribly expensive. This material Does't split, splinter ,chip, and it is very difficult to break. It is not hydroscopic and will not take in water. This makes it very stable material that I can make into very intricate things and still be able to abuse them ( my nature).
What did all that mean? I do not carve from elephant ivory or fresh ivory of any type, PERIOD. Some of my best friends are elephants, and the issue that led me to act against Hargrave @ marine world was his killing of my friend, the young male walrus that live out on the end of Pacific Palisades. I was some what younger then.
So enough of all that and let us get back to talking about this jewelry that is all over this site.
I love my rings. What can I say I wear them every day of my life . I work every day of my life ( well in my mind anyway) I am very hard on my rings , very hard. Sometimes I am shame full in the way I treat them. So
I make them very tough they wear like iron and feel so good on your finger that they find there place back there every day. Again ,and again, and again. Loose one or have one stolen makes you very disagreeable indeed.
I stand behind my rings 100 % if it breaks it was my fault I'll fix it or replace it (at this point you all have to know that I only make one ring ,one time, there will only ever be one like that one so not only will you be the only one who has that one. You will be the one who if you broke it beyond my ability to fix. I'll do my best to make you, the customer happy.
Remember that when you wear my jewelry you are also wearing my art. Enjoy it , it will make you look and feel better then when you are not wearing it. Hey, be prepared for everyone to notice. They will
Enjoy -Steven B. Ruse
